Hello everyone,
Welcome to your new B&FC Students’ Union website. This has been a long time in the making and I am so excited to unveil what the Students’ Union has been working on. The idea for this website first originated in the Big Student Meetings, students like yourselves wanting a platform of information that is relevant to students and maintained by students. Through a Partnership meeting between the Students’ Union and the College we agreed that this is something that would massively benefit students at B&FC and we are very proud of what we have achieved.
When designing the Students’ Union website we wanted to deliver on what you wanted from the Big Student Meetings and so this website is designed to be a central hub of information for students whilst also being a place to collaborate and get involved in all things at B&FC.
One of the main features of this website is having your quick guide to the Partners for Success, which is a framework of people helping students achieve positive outcomes. On this website you will be able to find out what each of the Partners can do for you and how to contact them. Whether it is support with learning and assessment; developing digital literacies; finance and emotional needs; or accessing sports and leisure activities. The Partners will do all they can to help you in your journey here at B&FC, because we believe that we are all partners in your education.
Also you will be able to find lots of information on events that the College has coming up, and all the Sports, Clubs and Societies we have running as well that you may wish to get involved in. We understand that although you’re here to study, it’s good to have that healthy balance of work and leisure. For that reason we have lots of things on offer for all students to get involved in. Plus if there’s a group you want to see at the College, or to even run yourself you can get in touch with us and we’ll help you set it up and promote it to the other students.
The thing I am most excited about on this website is the section you have just clicked on right now to read what I have just wrote, the B&FC Students’ Union blog. This section of the website is totally owned by you. You asked for a place in which you could cross collaborate in a written format and offer some pearls of wisdom to others about what it is like to be a B&FC Student. This is an area for all students, no matter which campus or level of study, writing about their experiences as a student. I’m looking forward to reading your submissions.
What you see now is only the starting blocks to what will evolve as time goes on. The most important part is that you give us your feedback so we can make the changes that you want, so we can make sure that we are delivering the information you need.
So no matter if you are a new, returning, or a prospective student, welcome to B&FC Students’ Union.
