Freshers’ Fair 2026: A Fantastic Celebration at the University Centre 🎪🎉

On 17th September, the University Centre came alive as students gathered for an unforgettable Freshers’ Fair, packed with entertainment, activities, food, and opportunities to connect with a wide range of organisations and services.

The event welcomed students from across the University Centre, providing the perfect opportunity to meet new people, discover what's available both on and off campus, and kick-start the academic year in style.

A day full of energy and entertainment

There was no shortage of excitement throughout the afternoon, with a variety of attractions creating a vibrant festival atmosphere across the campus.

At the heart of the event was a Big Top Tent, where a live DJ kept the energy high with music, interactive games, and plenty of opportunities for students to get involved.

Students took to the dance floor throughout the event, creating a fantastic atmosphere and helping to make the day one to remember.

Adding to the entertainment were stilt walkers, who captivated students as they made their way around the event, while drag queen hosts brought plenty of fun, laughter, and audience participation through a range of games and activities.

The lively atmosphere meant there was always something happening, with students gathering to watch performances, take part in challenges, and enjoy the celebrations with friends.

Food, stalls, and opportunities

Students were also able to enjoy a range of food and refreshments throughout the event, including delicious burgers and street food from Apocalyptic Grill, which proved a popular stop for many attendees.

A large marquee tent housed a wide variety of external vendors and organisations, giving students the opportunity to learn about local services, student discounts, volunteering opportunities, and support available within the community.

Additional charities and support services were based in reception, where students could speak directly to representatives and collect information on a range of important topics.

Meanwhile, the Students' Union and a number of creative vendors were located in the Dance Studio, providing students with an opportunity to find out more about getting involved in student life, upcoming events, and the support available throughout their college journey.

Bringing students together

Freshers’ Fair is about much more than entertainment. The event plays an important role in helping students settle into college life, make connections, and discover opportunities that can enhance their experience throughout the year.

The variety of activities, information stalls, and social spaces encouraged students to explore new interests, engage with the college community, and meet people from different courses and backgrounds.

A huge success

The event saw a fantastic turnout, with students making the most of everything on offer across the campus. From dancing in the Big Top Tent and taking part in games to visiting stalls and enjoying food from local vendors, there was a real sense of excitement throughout the day.

The positive atmosphere, high levels of engagement, and range of activities made the University Centre Freshers’ Fair a huge success and a brilliant showcase of student life.
