To mark National Old Stuff Day (2nd March), we hosted a Swap Shop pop-up designed to give pre-loved items a second life, and it was a fantastic success!
We set up a free donation clothing rail alongside boxes filled with accessories and toys, inviting students to bring along items they no longer needed and take something away in return.
The response was brilliant, with students embracing the opportunity to refresh their wardrobes, pick up something new-to-them, and support a more sustainable campus community.
The event highlighted just how engaged our students are when it comes to reusing, recycling and reducing waste. It was great to see items being re-homed rather than discarded, proving that one person’s “old stuff” really can be someone else’s treasure.
🌱 Keeping the Momentum Going
Thanks to the event’s success, we’re pleased to share that the clothing rail will now remain available to students:
📍 Student Life Room – Bispham Campus
📍 SU Think Space – UC Campus
Students are welcome to continue donating good-quality items and taking what they need. The aim is to keep the swap culture alive beyond just one day and provide an ongoing, accessible resource for our community.
A big thank you to everyone who donated, swapped and supported the event. Together, we’re building a more sustainable and supportive student experience.
