Over the past year, students from our college and schools across Blackpool have come together to take part in the Blackpool Youth Council Symposium – an inspiring programme designed to encourage young people to share their voices, ideas, and experiences.
Through a series of engaging sessions, students participated in a range of activities, games, and workshops, alongside meaningful discussions focused on the issues that impact young people today.
A space for discussion and collaboration
A key part of the symposium was creating a safe and welcoming environment where students could:
Share their views on topics affecting young people
Listen to and respect different perspectives
Build confidence in speaking and expressing ideas
Work collaboratively with students from other schools
Throughout the sessions, members of the Youth Council and representatives from a range of local organisations joined the discussions, offering insight, support, and real-world perspectives.
Learning beyond the classroom
The symposium gave students a valuable opportunity to step outside of their usual learning environment and engage with important social topics in a practical and interactive way.
By taking part, students developed key skills such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and confidence – all while helping to shape conversations around the future of young people in Blackpool.
Thank you to everyone involved
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the students who took part throughout the year. Their enthusiasm, openness, and willingness to engage made the symposium a real success.
Thank you also to the Youth Council members, speakers, and organisations who supported the sessions and helped create such a positive and impactful experience.
Looking ahead
The Blackpool Youth Council Symposium has been a fantastic example of young people coming together to be heard. We hope to see the programme continue to grow and be just as successful next year, with even more students getting involved.
We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part and look forward to what’s to come!
